NOTES

  2. She was 60 and unmarried when she died, the daughter of John McYlrea & Elizabeth Shimmin born 1697. Buried 11th November 1756
  3. Siblings Elizabeth, Charles,Thomas, Ann, Isabel
  4. She left a bequest to her nephew's wife (Mary McYlrea als Bell als Bridson) but her niece, Ann Norris, daughter of her sister Elizabeth, received the bulk of her estate
  5. This Catherine should not to be confused with an earlier Catherine McYlrea, who was the sister of her father, John McYlrea, and also unmarried
  6. Catherine bought her own cottage in 1744 from John Farrant. She also lent money occasionally, including to her own nephew 1729, so from somewhere, she acquired economic comfort
  7. There is much about the Malew Mylreas of the 1600s and early 1700s that does not hang together so extreme caution must be exercised
